AWARD project – « All Weather Autonomous Real logistics operations and Demonstrations »

The European project “AWARD” is dedicated to the automation of heavy vehicles in logistics operations. It is composed of a consortium of 29 European partners, of which CARA is a member, and is led by Easymile, a CARA member.

This large-scale project is funded by the European Commission’s Horizon 2020 program to the tune of 20 million euros.

AWARD will develop and enable an autonomous transportation system in a wide range of real-life situations and scenarios. The project will develop an autonomous driving system (Assistant Driver System – ADS) capable of dealing with adverse environmental conditions such as heavy rain, snowfall or fog.

CARA will be involved in 4 workpackages:

  • Testing, methodology & evaluation
  • Economic viability, definition of new business models and regulatory frameworks
  • Communication, dissemination
  • Project management

This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 101006817.
