Objective
Funding innovation activities that go beyond the experimental proof of concept in laboratory.
Priorities
- Supporting both the maturation and validation of novel technologies from the lab to the relevant application environments (by making use of prototyping, formulation, models, user testing or other validation tests);
- Explorations and development of a sustainable business case and business model towards commercialisation.
Eligibility
Eligible activities
- Further technology development on the results achieved in a previous project;
- Development of a validated business model and market-oriented business plan, grounded in user-centric approaches and supported by activities such as market analysis, profitability assessment, scalability outlook, intellectual property strategy, and competitive landscape evaluation;
- A suitable mix of technology development and validation activities to increase the maturity of the technology beyond proof of concept to viable demonstrators of the technology in the intended field of application;
- Improving market readiness towards commercialisation and deployment.
Eligible projects
Proposals must build on results (at least experimental proof of concept TRL 3, ideally technology validated in the lab TRL 4) already achieved within an eligible project i.e.:
- EIC Pathfinder projects (including projects funded under the Horizon 2020 EIC pilot Pathfinder, FET-Open, FET-Proactive, CSA and CSA Lump sum FET Innovation Launchpad.)
- European Research Council Proof of Concept projects funded Horizon 2020 or Horizon Europe.
- Research and Innovation Actions funded under Horizon 2020 Societal challenges and Leadership in Industrial Technologies and under Horizon Europe pillar II, with an eligible TRL
- European Defence Fund (EDF), including the Preparatory Action on Defence Research, research projects, but only for proposals which are focused on civil applications (including dual use).
- Be the owner of the results generated by the eligible project OR hold the rights to exploit the intellectual property (it is not mandatory to have been a partner in the original eligible project).
- The eligible project must have been completed no more than 30 months prior to the submission date or must have started more than 12 months before the submission date.

Eligible criterias
Mono-beneficiary : single legal entity ( SMEs, spin-offs (50% laureates), start-ups, research organisations, universities) established in a Member State or an Associated Country or
Multy-beneficiary : either small consortium (2 independent legal entities from two different Member States or Associated Countries) or consortium of minimum 3 and maximum 5 independent legal entities (must include at least one legal entity established in a Member State and at least two other independent legal entities, each established in different Member States or Associated Countries.)
Application process
Step 1 (17 September 2025)
Part A: Administrative. Part B: Narrative. Sections 1 to 3 and the cover page (that includes the information about the related project on which the current EIC Transition proposal is built on) of part B of your proposal must consist of a maximum of 22 format A4 pages.
Results shared up to 9 weeks after the submission.
Step 2 (Mid-October / Mid-November)
Evaluation by an EIC Jury
Your proposal will be evaluated first by EIC expert evaluators. If your proposal successfully passes this first evaluation phase (see details below), you will be invited for an interview, which will be organised approximately between 12-14 weeks after the deadline.
Step 3 (2-6 December 2025)
At the interview, you will be assessed by a panel of maximum 6 EIC Jury Members. You will be informed about the result of the interview indicatively within 4 weeks from the start of the interviews.
