Objective

Promote integrated green and social infrastructure to enhance urban resilience, climate mitigation, biodiversity, and social equity, maximising multifunctional benefits for inclusive, healthy, and just urban sustainability transitions.

Priorities

➡️ Promote multifunctional green and social infrastructure that enhances biodiversity, climate resilience, and wellbeing through inclusive, accessible spaces for recreation, cohesion, and ecological restoration in urban environments.

➡️ Foster integrated governance models enabling cross-sector collaboration and participatory planning to sustainably manage green and social infrastructure balancing environmental and community needs.

➡️ Leverage nature-based solutions in urban planning to address climate adaptation and mitigation goals while supporting inclusive, multifunctional spaces for health, equity, and social engagement.

Eligibility

Legal entities such as (but not limited to):

  • research organisations (higher education institutions including universities, university colleges; research institutes or other entities with research undertakings),
  • companies and commercial organisations,
  • urban government authorities (such as local and regional government institutions, municipalities and municipal organisations, city authorities, urban public administrations, infrastructure and service providers),
  • consumers and civil society representatives (e.g. local and community organisations, non-governmental organisations, not-for-profit organisations, advocacy and activist groups, citizens’ representatives, neighbourhood initiatives, social innovators, social entrepreneurs, etc.).
  • From the culture and creative sectors (e.g. artists and designers).

Each proposal must be submitted by a consortium consisting of at least three eligible Applicants from at least three different participating countries (Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, The Netherlands, Poland, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden (funding agencies Formas and SWEA have confirmed their participation and will publish their National Annexes at a later date), Switzerland, Tunisia More confirmed countries will be added continuously up until the call opens on 1 September.)

At least two of the eligible Applicants must be from different EU Member States (MS) or Associated Country (AC)

Eligible activities

➡️ Approaches for the design and management of green areas, and community and cultural spaces, for enhanced social and ecological benefits.

➡️ Creating innovative planning and design models and frameworks for integrating green and/or social infrastructure in urban planning and design to improve biodiversity, resilience and accessibility.

➡️ Advancing community-centred solutions and strategies for fostering local participation and ensuring inclusive, socially cohesive resilient urban spaces.

➡️ Producing policy, governance and management recommendations for policymakers on governance models and financing mechanisms, to support transformative resilient and inclusive infrastructure initiatives.

➡️ Developing climate adaptation and mitigation strategies using NBS that enhance urban resilience, towards climate neutrality and against extreme climate events and other climate change impacts, whilst allowing for social functionality and accessibility.

➡️ Designing methods for the co-creation of inclusive, accessible, green and climate neutral urban spaces.
