Through studies carried out with its partners, IREIS improves the properties of surfaces and provides them with new functions, develops new processes and coating technologies in the fields of tribology, thin films, laser texturing and diffusion layers.
The fields of application of these materials and processes include the automotive, aeronautics, space and defence, optics/photonics and energy sectors.

In the field of mobility, IREIS is mainly involved in
– Tribological studies and development of surface treatments to reduce friction (engines, gearboxes, differentials, etc.) thanks to a dedicated multi-scale test platform
– Development of vacuum coating materials/processes for mechanical system components, as well as for electric mobility and hydrogen technologies.
IREIS has the status of “Contract Research Organisation” and is approved for the research tax credit (CIR).
